Meninas and Butterflies

The fascinating lifecycle of the butterfly transformation is the inspiration to the newest Menina series.

Throughout time the Menina figure has been an iconic emblem to Spaniards and of many artist a muse.

The Menina butterfly series, like a metaphor, has undergone change in cycles of perspective state, style, and formation. The elements of transformation made a fascinating journey in the process of past series, from works made of bold gold leaf to the romantic pastels in the memories series.

Meninas and Butterflies brings drama with enigmatic brushstrokes of black, white, and gray tones interlocking with dancing butterflies in the presence of the Menina figure . The bejeweled colored dress embraces the idea of velvety wings, as butterflies bring a true essence of shades, shapes, and contrast throughout.

My wish for this new body of work is to expand the viewers understanding of change in the world around them.
