Janak Narayan

Janak Narayan is an award-winning Indian American artist whose vibrant paintings celebrate the beauty, joy, and transformative power of the natural world. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, she creates expressive landscapes that blend observation, imagination, and emotion, drawing inspiration from nature, travel, and her own free-spirited outlook on life.

Narayan received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Indiana University and, following a successful twenty-five-year career in finance and banking, embraced her lifelong passion for art as a full-time pursuit. This transition marked a pivotal chapter in her creative journey, allowing her to channel her experiences, resilience, and optimism into paintings that are both uplifting and deeply personal.

Influenced by Post-Impressionism, Narayan's work explores the space between representation and abstraction. Her stylized landscapes are characterized by energetic brushwork, luminous color palettes, and a sense of movement that invites viewers into imagined environments that feel at once familiar and dreamlike. Recent works continue to push these boundaries, with landscapes becoming increasingly abstract and abstract compositions retaining subtle connections to the natural world.

Travel has played an important role in shaping Narayan's artistic perspective. Study experiences in England, France, and Ireland, along with workshops throughout Tuscany and the French countryside, have broadened her visual vocabulary and deepened her appreciation for the universal language of landscape. These global influences are reflected in her work's rich color, expressive forms, and celebratory spirit.

Narayan's paintings can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, India, Dubai, and the Bahamas, as well as in corporate collections and luxury residences across the Dallas–Fort Worth region and beyond.

As she describes it, "I paint sometimes as I see it, other times as I imagine it—but always because I am loving it."
