ARTHUR FIELDS

Arthur Fields is represented by Pencil on Paper Gallery, with select projects presented in collaboration with DHV ARTWORKS.

Fields is a multidisciplinary artist working across digital and alternative photographic media. His practice is rooted in self-representation and the influence of social media, where he operates simultaneously as curator and image-maker—selecting, organizing, editing, and remixing visual material to examine the collective cultural experience shaped through digital processes.

While much of his work investigates technology and mediated relationships, Fields has increasingly turned his focus toward abstraction and alternative photographic processes, expanding the visual and conceptual language of his practice.

Raised in Killeen, Texas, Fields earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Texas Woman's University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Imaging and Photography from Washington University in St. Louis. His earlier studies included printmaking and photography at Brookhaven College, now part of Dallas College.

He recently completed seven years as Associate Professor of Art at Vincennes University, where he taught analog photography, digital imaging, and design, and served as Director of the Shircliff Gallery of Art. He is currently Associate Professor of Art at Dallas College, teaching courses in photography and design.

His professional service reflects a deep commitment to the field. He has served as National Board Chair for the Society for Photographic Education, is a member of the Leadership Arts Institute of North Texas Class of 2024, and contributes to the regional arts community as a board member of The Cedars Union Arts Incubator and as a participant on the City of Dallas Public Art Selection Panel.

Fields’ work has been exhibited widely across the United States, including at the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville, IN), Box13 ArtSpace (Houston, TX), Weitman Gallery (St. Louis, MO), PhotoPlace Gallery (Middlebury, VT), and the California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco, CA).
