Alessio Ceruti
Alessio Ceruti has explored the full spectrum of contemporary art since the beginning of his career in Varese, Italy. Now based in Indonesia, his work is deeply informed by the natural world—particularly the sea—and the growing tension between nature and humanity. Themes of climate change, environmental fragility, and transformation are central to his evolving practice.
Ceruti is represented by CINQ GALLERY in the Dallas Design District. Select projects are presented in collaboration with DHV ARTWORKS, reflecting a shared commitment to bringing his work to collectors in the United States, while his broader exhibition program continues internationally, particularly throughout Europe and the Far East.
At the core of Ceruti’s philosophy is the idea that perspective shapes reality. His work explores the interplay of reflection and distortion—how light, water, and movement bend perception and reveal deeper truths. Drawing from his underwater experiences, he captures the sublime beauty, rhythm, and tension of marine environments, translating them into immersive visual experiences that balance chaos and harmony.
Plexiglass plays a central role in his process. Valued for its clarity and reflective qualities, it allows Ceruti to create layered compositions that shift with light and viewpoint. Each piece is meticulously constructed using plexiglass foils, thermally fused with inks, prints, and acrylic paint to build a multi-layered surface.
The dimensionality of the work is further enhanced through the incorporation of found coral specimens, introducing both physical depth and conceptual resonance. These organic elements serve as a quiet but powerful acknowledgment of the fragility of coral ecosystems, underscoring Ceruti’s commitment to raising awareness around CO₂ emissions, global warming, and the urgent need to sustain and protect coral reefs.
With proper framing and backing, Ceruti’s works can also be installed in outdoor environments, extending their presence beyond interior spaces and allowing natural light to become an active participant in the viewing experience.
